This highly regarded course at one of the UK's premier media
schools is intended for students planning a career in
journalism.
The course is designed to equip graduates with
the practical and intellectual skills necessary for a career in
either print and/or online media, or in broadcast journalism.
There’s a strong emphasis on learning through ‘hands-on’ practice.
Your course-work assignments will be practical journalism
assignments. We want our students to be well versed in convergent
journalism, and all are encouraged to post stories, pictures, audio
and video regularly on our multi-media news
website.
The course also includes work experience
placements, and presents many other opportunities: for several
years some students have had the chance to join NATO or British
naval and military exercises as ‘embedded’ journalists, sometimes
even reporting on board ship. You can see some of this work by
following this link. There has been an exchange with
journalism students from Moscow State University, and a trip to the
European Parliament and Commission.
Our Journalism MA graduates are working
in TV, Radio, print or online media. Recent graduates are
working at Sky TV and Online, ITN, BBC Radio current affairs, BBC
TV News, Online and World Service, LBC News radio The
Guardian, Financial Times, Daily Telegraph, Elle magazine,
Conde Nast, many specialist publications, local newspapers and
radio stations.
