Deciding what to do after your degree can be hard, especially since many vacancies are open to graduates of any discipline and so your options are not necessarily limited by the subject that you have studied.

It is also important to remember that most graduates will follow careers within small or medium sized organisations, rather than with the larger, more well known employers.

How to get started.......

You can work through a (free) online career guidance package

These can help you think about what skills and abilities you have to offer and what careers may match them.

Take the type dynamics indicator personality test

Accessible to registered users of the prospects website, registration is free and a

          quick process.

Contains a range of topics to help you reflect on your skills, interests and values.

You need to be signed in to access this.

You can research the opportunites available

There are a variety of online resources which can help you gain a better understanding of the types of jobs that are available to you:

You can also research 'what do graduates do?' by subject area

You can talk to one of our careers consultants in an advice session

This is your time in which you may like to discuss your skills, interests and values, the career options available to you, setting out an action plan to achieve your goals or any other career related issues.

You are very welcome to visit us for guidance in planning your career as early in your course as possible.  Too many students say they wish they had contacted us sooner.

You can also visit our information areas at 101 New Cavendish Street or the Harrow Campus to look through our career libraries or take away an employer directory.

Finally you can attend employer events and find out first hand what opportunities are available to you.  View details of events in and outside the university and book your place online via the Prospects Net vacancy and events system.
