The Research Office is
responsible for research administration within the
Academic Services Department. Their roles encompass the
administration and quality assurance of research degrees, the
provision of secretariat support to the Research, Enterprise
and Knowledge Transfer Committee, policy development,
institutional arrangements for the management of research, and the
co-ordination of submissions for external assessment, such as the
Research Assessment Exercise.
The Research Office is based at Cavendish
House, 101 New Cavendish Street. Please note that an
appointment system is operated for students who wish to see the
Research Degrees Manager. Appointments can be made by contacting

Ms Fran Noonan, Head of Research Office
Fran is responsible for the
management and co-ordination of the Research Office staff
and their functions. She is responsible for leading the
development of Research Policy through her role as Secretary to the
Research Committee and on behalf of the Academic Registrar. She is
involved in quality assurance, implementation of research policies
and strategies and the University's external assessment
submissions.

Ms Huzma Kelly, Senior Research Officer (Policy and
Governance)
Huzma is
Secretary to University Research Ethics Committee. She
advises on Ethics Approval applications from students and
staff, updates policy and codes on best practice for all research
and other such strategic documents. She also works on the
Research Website and is responsible for disseminating and keeping
abreast of the requirements of Research Councils and other external
bodies in terms of the Research Community. For the last year her
work has focussed on all aspects of the Research Assessment
Exercise as well as managing the institutional repository -
WestminsterResearch and
all bibliographical data for the University's research.

Ms Lesley McDonagh, Senior Research Officer (Audit and
Assessment)
Lesley is responsible for managing the Annual Progress Review
which audits service provision to and academic progress of the
University's research students. In addition she is involved in
research student record monitoring and audit activities across the
University, departmental web development and the University's
marketing activities. Lesley is also Secretary for two of the
University's research committees.

Mr Mike Fisher, Research Degrees
Manager
Mike is responsible for managing the research degrees process
across the University. He deals with research students from
enrolment to post-examination/viva stages. He is
available by appointment only for all research students to air
their concerns or seek advice concerning the key stages of a
research degree. He also advises on research student policy at the
Research Committee and appropriate working groups.

Ms Lindsay Martin, Research
Administrator
Lindsay is responsible for the
admissions and applications procedure for research students. She
also advises current research students with their enquiries as
well as updating and developing the Research Students Database and
liaises with Research Staff in order to maximise the benefits to
our research community. She is responsible for the maintenance and
update of documentation and publicity regarding enrolment
and induction events. Lindsay is also Secretary to the
Research Students' Forum.

Ms Shila Panchasara, Research Secretary
Shila is responsible for assisting
all members of the Research Office in their various
roles. Day-to-day she is responsible for organising the team's
diary and advising research students with their enquiries as well
as updating and developing the Research Student database and
records system. She deals with pre-enrolment enquiries from
potential research students.
