The Centre for Excellence in Professional Learning from the
Workplace.
In 2005 the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)
funded 74 Centers of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETLs) in
England for a five year period. The general aims for the CETLs
programme, are to enable the development of practices that enhance
the quality of learning for students, and to give greater
prominence and reward to clusters of excellence, to further their
dissemination and impact.
With our focus on professional learning from
the workplace our aim is to innovate and facilitate change in
educational practice at University of Westminster around ‘learning
through work’. We achieve this through:
- Nurturing collaborative working
- Dissemination of work based pedagogies and approaches to
curriculum development to generate ideas and/or development of
practices with first generation innovators
- Provision to fund innovative large scale projects
- Supporting risk taking
- Provision of consultancy and mentoring across the University
communities
- Fostering and drawing upon external relationships
- Evaluation
