What is it?

The scheme is a programme for undergraduate home students of Black British, African, Caribbean and Asian descent. It links students with professional managers or executives to enhance their employability through confidence building, networking and development of the key skills all employers seek. The programme is a chance for students to learn about the opportunities available in specific career areas. A certificate is awarded to all participants on completion.

Who is the scheme for?
Undergraduate home students of all years of Black British, African, Caribbean or Asian descent. 
 
How long does it last?
The programme lasts from October to May. Regular mentor/student meetings are held at the mentor's office or another pre-arranged venue. Induction events precede this in October.

Westminster students for many years and was Mentor of the Year in 2010.

What commitment is involved?
You will be expected to:
  • Attend an induction session
  • Attend the introduction seminar
  • Attend at least one workplace visit per month
  • Keep in phone contact with your mentor regularly
  • Attend the mid-term evaluation event in February
  • Submit a short report at the end of the scheme
  • Complete and return an Evaluation Questionnaire
  • Attend the Award Certificate Ceremony in May
