Exit interviews, where possible, are normally conducted
by the external organisation with volunteers who are leaving their
volunteer placement within that organisation. The purpose of the
interview is to ascertain why the volunteer is leaving the
position, gather volunteer suggestions for improving the position,
and what possibilities there might be to involve the volunteer in
some other capacity with the external organisation. We will send an
email to the volunteer in addition to the external organisation's
exit interview, asking for general feedback on the volunteer's
experience during their placement. This feedback will be used to
evaluate the volunteer’s experience but will also be used to review
the suitability of this placement for other University of
Westminster Volunteers.
If students want to continue
volunteering, we will work on finding appropriate placements
either within the first host organisation or another. As part of
the exit interview, volunteers will be encouraged to see a careers
consultant to help them use their volunteering experience
to enhance their learning and future job seeking activities.
