From 1988 to 1992 Jayne worked for a charity providing careers
advice for women returners and since 1992 has worked for the
University of Westminster, initially as a careers consultant and
currently as Senior Manager with responsibility for Careers
and Quality.
Jayne has a BSc in Occupational Psychology and an MSc in Work
Design and Ergonomics. After graduating, she worked as a lecturer
at Birmingham Polytechnic, and then as an occupational psychologist
with the Department of Employment.
She is a Chartered Psychologist and is Level A and Level B
qualified in psychometric testing.

Dr Wayne Clark
Senior Manager - Research and Development
|

Wayne manages the Research and Development team and
co-ordinates research related activity within the department
including the HESA Destination of Leavers from Higher
Education
He has undertaken research into a variety of areas
including:
- a C-SAP funded project evaluating the embedding of citizenship
skills into the undergraduate curriculum
- an evaluation of the relationship between careers in the
Probation service and ethnic minorities (as part of Connecting
Communities)
- a qualitative study of political activism in the UK published
as Activism in the Public Sphere (Ashgate, 2000).
He has also taught widely on a range of social science
courses at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and
Central Missouri State University, and for the past year
was Course Leader in a Foundation Degree in Community
Development.

Monica Deshpande
Senior Manager - Operations and Development
|

Monica joined the University of Westminster in 2007. Her role
involves operational implementation and project management. She
leads the employer liaison, information and community volunteering
teams within the department. She is responsible for the development
and implementation of strategic partnerships to raise the profile
of the University of Westminster in the business, community and
skills sector areas.
Before joining the University of Westminster, Monica was
Regional Manager with IMS Learning Resources, India's pioneering
career development and training company. She set up the business in
1998 and led it until 2006. She started her career in advertising,
where she spent two years, before crossing over to education. She
has a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and an MBA.
Monica is currently on maternity leave until Summer 2012

Aitor Gonzalo-Alonso
Departmental Administrator

Aitor joined the University of Westminster in 2008. His current
role involves supporting the Senior Management Team and being
responsible for administering all the financial functions of the
department.
Before joining the University of Westminster, Aitor was working
as Graduate Survey & Finance Administrator for City University,
London. In this role, he organised the HESA Destination of Leavers
from Higher Education survey and wrote the Annual Employability
Report. Previous to this, he worked at Edinburgh Napier University
in various roles, mainly in student support and advice
roles. Aitor holds a Spanish degree in Business Secretarial Studies
from Deusto University and a BA (Hons) in Business Management with
International Studies from Edinburgh Napier University.

Dr Louise Bamford
Careers Consultant

In addition to general careers guidance and quick query advice,
Louise is the designated Careers Consultant for the School of
Architecture and the Built Environment (SABE) and also delivers
career management education to PhD research students.
Louise delivers the SABE
personal development for work module, in addition to a range
of career management sessions throughout the SABE school and
is supporting the Construction/Property department's new
personal development planning programme.
Louise has a strong background in business and new product
development following 11 years in Research & Development
project management at Procter & Gamble. Louise has a
Postgraduate certificate in Careers Education, Information and
Guidance and a BSc and PhD in chemistry.

Stephen Cole
Careers Consultant
|

Stephen’s role involves supporting the delivery of Careers
Management Skills within the schools of Biosciences, Media, Art
& Design and Harrow School of Computing.
Stephen previously worked for 3 years as
a Connexions Personal Adviser with a specialism in the
provision of careers advice and guidance. The role
involved raising the personal, academic and professional
aspirations of a extensive range of clients from the
private/public education sector, the Youth Justice Board's Youth
Offending Team and the resident populations of Camden,
Kensington & Chelsea.
Stephen has a BSc in Communication & Information Studies and
an MA in Media, Communications and Technology, from Brunel
University. Stephen also obtained an NVQ Level 4 in Careers Advice
and Guidance while working for Connexions.

Margaret Clements
Careers Consultant
|

Margaret is a Careers Consultant, working here three days
a week (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). Since joining the team
in November 2008, she is responsible for developing and managing
new initiatives, including the Career Network for Westminster
Graduates – a Network for those contending with the challenges of
the current economic climate. Margaret is the designated careers
consultant for the School of Electronics and Computer Science and
shares responsibility for the School of Social Sciences, Humanities
and Languages with Frances
Gow
Margaret has a BA (Hons) in Economic History, a post-graduate
Diploma in Careers Guidance and an NVQ level 5 in Strategic
Management. Before joining us, Margaret worked for Cambridgeshire
Careers Guidance Ltd managing the development of quality careers
education and guidance in the County’s schools and colleges. Her
most recent appointments have been Head of 14-19 Agenda at London
West LSC and Education Manager at Heathrow, working with BAA and
Education Business Partnerships, to raise awareness of the airport
labour market and economy.

Frances Gow
Careers Consultant

Frances is the dedicated Careers Consultant for the Business
School with shared responsibility for the School of
Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages (with Margaret Clements). Frances provices
advice and guidance to students as well as delivering Career
Management Skills in the curriculum.
Prior to joining us, Frances worked as an Employability Manager
at the University of East London. Previously, she has worked for
both public and private sector organisations in theatre, film and
television. She has a postgraduate diploma in Career Guidance and a
CIPD accredited Certificate in Training Practice.

Elishba Zachariah
Careers Consultant

Elishba is the designated Careers Consultant for the
School of Media, Art and Design and Harrow School of Computing, and
is primarily based at the Harrow campus.
She has experience in a range of sectors, including media, race
relations, tourism and previously ran an educational recruitment
business from Mumbai.
Elishba has a BSc in Social Policy and an MA in Careers
Education.

Christine Louder
Information Manager

Christine works within the department's Information Team
and as such is a first point of contact for all our clients:
Students, Graduates, Employers and Academic Staff. She is
responsible for the management of the day to day running of the
student-facing Careers Information Centres and delivery of user
friendly information services.
Prior to joining us, Christine worked in the careers service of
a private HE College and as an Employment Advisor in a
welfare-to-work programme. She has a BA in English Literature and
is currently studying for a PG Certificate in Careers Education,
Information and Guidance.

Laura Brooks
Careers Assistant

Laura is a member of the frontline Information Team and as such
is a first point of contact for all our clients: Students,
Graduates, Employers and Academic Staff. She can provide
information and advice on how individual users can make the most of
our services. Laura's specific areas of responsibility within
the team include dealing with Graduate vacancies. She is
based at Cavendish House (101 New Cavendish Street) and
is available at the Harrow Campus on Mondays and Thursdays (term
time only).
Previously, Laura worked for Lifetime Careers Brent and
Harrow/Connexions London West prior to studying for a BA (Hons)
History and English degree at St. Mary’s University College,
Twickenham, from which she graduated in 2005. Laura has been with
us since April 2006.

Joanna Szafarczyk

Joanna is a member of the frontline Information Team and as

Employers and Academic Staff. She can provide information and
advice on how individual users can make the most of our services.
Joanna's specific areas of responsibility within the team include
dealing with Graduate vacancies.
She graduated from University of East London with BA (Hons) in
European Studies and from University of Westminster with an MA in
HRM and Bilingual Translation. Prior to joining us, she worked as a
freelance translator.

Employability Assistant

Alison is a member of the frontline Information Team and as
such is a first point of contact for all our clients: Students,
Graduates, Employers and Academic Staff. She can provide
information and advice on how individual users can make the most of
our services. Alison also deals with part-time and vacation
vacancies, implementing the part-time jobs strategy and organising
employer events.
Alison holds a BA in Philosophy from Cardiff University and an
MA in Cultural and Media Studies from UWE. She formerly worked as
an employment advisor to mental health clients in the voluntary
sector, where she gained an NVQ4 in Advice and Guidance. She is
also a qualified teacher and works part-time as an adult literacy
tutor at an adult college.

John McMenamin
Employability and IT Consultant

John develops IT systems within the department, manages our
web-based resources and supports the delivery and
implementation of Career Management Skills. John is also the
designated Careers Consultant for the School of Life Sciences
Integrated Health courses.
John graduated from the University of Brighton in 1998 with a BA
(Hons) in Business Education with IT and Qualified Teacher Status.
He has been a Resources and IT Technician, an IT Teacher in an
Essex Secondary School and Assistant Manager of an IT Training
Centre in a Brighton FE college.

Anita Shanbhag
Research Administrator |

Anita works within the department's Research and
Development team. Her role involves co-ordinating the Destination
of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) survey and other careers
research projects. She also deals with management information
statistics on usage of our services.
Anita has a BSc in Management and an MSc in Human Resource
Management and Industrial Relations from the University of
Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Her
previous experience includes managing employment/recruitment
research projects, as well as conducting qualitative/quantitative
research and analysis for clients in the Higher Education
sector.

Berekhet Berakhy
Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
|

Berekhet is
the monitoring and evaluation officer for the department's
volunteering provision. He is responsible for identifying and
documenting gaps in provision, analysing student and staff
volunteering trends, and making appropriate recommendations to
improve the service.
Berekhet comes to us
from the voluntary sector after having worked there for a number of
years in a number of areas including monitoring and evaluation,
training and project management.
Berekhet has a BA in
Business Management and an MA in International Public
Administration.
