The policy on payment of a gratuity equal to two weeks' pay for each complete year of service is limited to those non-teaching staff who were in post prior to 6 April 1988 and were not eligible to join the Local Government Pension Scheme on commencement of their service. A gratuity is not payable to someone who joined and subsequently opted out of the Scheme or for any years of service post 6 April 1988.
