This can be done through myHR which all staff have access to. Please note that HR  will require copies of any relevant documentation (e.g. marriage certificate). Please send to your relavent Campus HR Adviser.

Staff are welcome to contact their local HR Manager or the HR Manager (Equality and Diversity) should they require confidential support during difficult times. The University also offers an Employee Support Helpline. Are there any policies on reducing my hours/taking a sabbatical?

Members of staff who wish to reduce their contract or take a period of unpaid leave should raise it with their line manager in the first instance.  The University aims to be supportive of such request as long as operational requirements can be maintained.

How should I deal with an employee who has a lot of sickness absence?

Managers should contact a member of the Employee Relations team in the first instance who will advise them on the appropriate process.

What do I do if I am off sick?

On the first day of absence you must still telephone and notify your line manager or supervisor of your illness by 10 am at the very latest.  Only if you are too unwell to do this may someone telephone your manager on your behalf.
 
If you cannot contact your supervisor/manager, you must contact your HR Manager, who will pass the details on.
 
You must keep your supervisor/manager informed of your situation during periods of absence and give an indication of your likely date of return to allow cover to be arranged.

What are the arrangements for people wishing to retire early?

Members of staff wishing to retire early should raise it with their line manager or a member of the HR team.

You need to complete an expense claim form which must be authorised by the budget holder.  Relevant receipts need to be attached with the claim.

The University closes between Christmas and New Year and the eight bank holidays (New Years Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, May Day, Whit Monday, August Bank Holiday Monday, Christmas Day and Boxing Day).
