Employer events and company presentations are a great opportunity to meet employers face-to-face. They allow you to gain first-hand information about a specific company and the market it operates in, while selling yourself on a more informal basis.

You can view our events and book your place online through the Prospects Net system. Please note, the first time you use this system, you will need to 'opt in' and wait 12 hours for your account to be created. You will then be able to return to the system and access our events by selecting 'View and Book Events and Quick Queries'.

To book a Quick Query session with a Careers Consultant, please then select 'Show Regular Activities'.

Throughout the academic year, we organise a range of careers related events on campus for both current students and recent graduates. These include:

Events organised outside of Careers and Student Employment may include: Careers Information Days, Online Recruitment Events, Recruitment Fairs, Selection Days, Company Open Days etc.

Benefits of attending an Event

Here are a few tips, which you should remember whenever you attend an event.

Meet company representatives face-to-face:
They know best how the company operates and can provide you with a clear picture of the organisation and the work they do. It can help you decide whether the company is for you.

Build up relationships:
Increase your chances of employment in this company. Having an event or a company contact to relate to is always better than making blind applications. Someone might have taken down your name at the event and it could ring a bell when you send in your application.

Find out about skills and experience companies are looking for in graduates:

You might feel that some of the jobs you have done over the years are totally unrelated to the company and work you are interested in. However, you might be surprised, since most of the acquired skills can work in your favour and can make a difference to your application.

Find out about work opportunities they offer:

These events are also a chance to hear about vacancies and work opportunities which are new or not advertised on a large scale.
