Writing a bibliography or list of references
The list of references appears at the end of your work and
gives the full details of everything that you have cited in the
text in alphabetical order by the author’s surname.
- Sometimes this list of references is also called the
bibliography.
- Sometimes a tutor requires the bibliography to be more than
just a list of references. S/he may also want to see there
the full details of everything you have read during the preparation
of this piece of work, regardless of whether or not you cited it in
the text.
- Sometimes a tutor will want to see details of those items, but
in a separate list from the list of references, called either a
bibliography or 'Further reading'.

by these terms.
