Giorgio Di Pietro is a Reader in the Economics of
Education. Among his research interests are over-education, returns
to education and university drop-out. He has also investigated
issues related to equity in education, such as widening
participation in university education.
Before joining the Westminster Business School he worked as a
scientific officer at the Institute for Prospective and
Technological Studies, one of research institutes of the European
Commission, and was a teaching assistant at the faculty of
Economics of La Sapienza University of Rome.
He has also served as a consultant to various organizations and
corporations including the Italian Institute for Foreign Affairs
(IAI), Family and Parenting Institute and the University of
Bari.
Giorgio holds a BSc in Economics from La Sapienza University of
Rome and PhD in Education Economics from Roskilde University
(Denmark).
Giorgio joined IZA as a Research Fellow in April
2009.
