Marketing communications covers the selection and application
of the main communication tools available to an organisation in
pursuit of its marketing goals. This work is often carried out by
specialist agencies and involves both strategic thinking and the
development of creative solutions. This calls for a blend of
research-based knowledge with the practice of high level, often
extremely creative, skills.
The ultimate aim of the course is to enhance individual career
advancement prospects through knowledge of how to apply academic
learning to best marketing practice.
Course Content
The course covers the main marketing communication techniques
and provides you with a sufficient foundation in marketing to
enable you to work easily with people involved throughout the
marketing management process.
"I started work in the marketing department for Nintendo
Greece, and am working with a wonderful team. What surprised me is
that all the things I have learned at Westminster during the one
year are coming into practice for me now .... on the job I will be
working to create numerous campaigns along the lines of the
individual class projects that we did. I am already dealing with
advertising briefs, product portfolios, above the line, below the
line sell in, sell out, POP!!"

Specialist Marketing Internships
A three month, part time, internship was successfully trialled
for Marketing Communications students in 2007. This is to be
continued and offers organisations access to our students in order
to involve them in marketing communications campaigns, marketing
planning and strategic development processes, thereby putting their
knowledge to practical use.
"I
found this course through the Web: it seemed tailor-made for me!
Since last September I've been living an exciting experience in a
stimulating, academic environment on a multi-cultural campus in one
of the most vibrant cities in the world. Thanks to the course, I
think that I can successfully exploit the knowledge I've acquired
to find the job I'd like in marketing communications in
London."
